Creating accountability

Creating accountability

One of the hallmarks of working with a health coach is that it creates accountability to someone other than yourself. What that means is that you share how you’ve taken action and what you learned. When you commit to an action plan, keeping track of how things are going is a critical step to help you reach your goals. Key questions that are explored in coaching sessions include:

  • Did you do what you agreed to as part of the action plan?

  • What worked well and what didn’t work?

  • Are there actions you adjusted?

  • What did you learn during this time?

There’s no blame or judgement when exploring these questions and you are empowered to make the adjustments necessary to reach your goals. To stay on track, flexibility is needed as you work through your action plan. Accountability conversations during coaching sessions create the space to check-in on your commitment and adjust as you progress towards your health goals. It’s all about progress, not perfection!
